It is a relief for many fleeing from an oppressive life to a life with a multitude of opportunities for their children but for some it is nothing but another border crossing, upon border crossing. They will never be accepted, They will always be the enslaved migrant worker seeking a better life and greener fields behind a fence, a gate, a border crossing for their family.

B*tch Fest If you’re awake and breathing, you know there’s a war waging against our gender. Has been for 10,000 years or longer. From the atrocities of various (and perpetual) war zones, to the workplace, courtrooms, behind closed doors, and even congress, women aren’t treated with or given the dignity and equanimity they deserve. B*tch Fest provides a platform for those artists courageous enough to confront these issues of social justice. Exhibit Location: 5683 York Blvd, Los Angeles CA, 90042. Opening Reception: Saturday, July 12, 2014, 6 - 10 pm. Additional programming and second exhibit location to be announced. My painting discusses the role of the midwestern farmers wife during a time of GMO's, Monsanto and the Keystone Pipeline.
ANIMALIA: Jun 14 at 8:00pm to Jun 15 at 2:00amAn Art Exhibit Inspired By Spirit/ Power Animals And Guardian Spirits/ LPArtwalk Summer SOULstice Arts & Music Festival/ Cakeshop Oddities. The spider is a remarkable figure of feminine energy and creativity in the spirit animal kingdom. Spiders are characterized by the skilled weaving of intricate webs and patience in awaiting their prey. By affinity with the spider spirit animal, you may have qualities of high receptivity and creativity. Having the spider as a power animal or totem helps you tune into life’s ebbs and flows and ingeniously weave every step of your destiny. Before I moved here from the West coast I saw a palm reader in Salem who told me that I would learn the art of patience (I was impatient to the point of meltdowns at the time). I am still learning the art of patience but have come a very long way. This is one of the many reasons the Spider came up as my spirit animal, as well as the receptivity, intuition, energy and creativity. It is a good fit for me but I just wanted you to know that there is a distinct connection, I did not pull a random animal out of a hat!
Spirituality Within the Ojai Valley
In conjunction with the Mike Saijo's exhibition at the Porch Gallery , local artists submitted works based on their personal experiences with spirituality within the Ojai Valley. Show runs from Jun 15, 2014 thru Jun 29, 2014. Soft Machine Project is an outgrowth of the ideas inspired by the "cut-up fold in" method that William S. Burroughs devised in his sci-fi novel, Soft Machine. Saijo developed Soft Machine Project as an idea of 'program art,' hoping to influence artists to become aware of patterns in nature that serve as models for looking at, and organizing, a world view in a multi-faceted structure.http://www.porchgalleryojai.com/index.php

MOAH Poppy Exhibit 2014
"Poppy Parade" Acrylic on canvas in vintage frame will be exhibited May 10 - June 8, 2014. It shows the various characters that attend a parade in their colorful, emotive forms. They stand on a blanket of happiness tossing blissful poppies in the air, coating themselves in a moment of possitivity that layers over the fire and hellish underworld that bubbles beneath. We all need some good times to blanket the bad times. Even big mouth guy has his happy colors on today!

Thanks to curator and artist Edwin Vasquez, I have the great pleasure of showing my Celestial Orb Series, my homage to the aerospace environment in the Mojave Valley, in a solo exhibition at the Edwards Air Force Base Library for the month of May. The library is the best of the Air Force Materiel Command, is visited by 10,000 people a week and is open for military personal and civilians working at the base. The Celestial Orb series was inspired by my move from the San Fernando Valley to the Antelope Valley where the night sky exploded with stars. If you are able to visit the library, I hope you enjoy the show! Please explore Edwin's work as well on the following sites: http://www.youtube.com/user/edwinvasquez100
